Sunset Violet (2023)

Artist Statment: Sunset Violet is the fairytale lesbian romance that I needed as a child. Growing up I never saw positive queer representation until I got to high school, well after the point I started to realize that I was a woman attracted to other women. My story and illustrations feature two lesbian leads, The Sunset Princess and Violet Knight who come together by a chance of fate. In short, the story revolves around the princess as her father falls mysteriously ill. A tournament is held to find the princess a suitor in the event that the king passes and she must rise to the throne. During this tournament, the Sunset Princess meets the Violet knight who becomes her personal guard. As the tournament trials go on, the Knight shows the princess that her life isn’t as set in stone as she believes and the only one who can rescue her from her fate is the princess herself.
